Types of Insertion Tips for Male Catheters
Male length catheters are available with either a straight or coudé insertion tip. The insertion tip of a catheter is what you insert into the urethra or a stoma to drain your bladder.
Straight Tip Catheters
This is the most common insertion tip, featuring a straight, tapered insertion tip.
Coudé Tip Catheters
Designed with a curved tip rather than a straight, coudé catheters can help navigate around blockages or difficult passages that a standard straight catheter may not easily pass. Men with enlarged prostates or urethral strictures may find that coudé tip catheters may feel and perform better than standard straight catheters.

Types of Male Catheters

Hydrophilic male catheters have water-activated properties that act as a lubricant and become very slippery when activated by water. These catheters can help reduce urethral friction.
Some hydrophilic catheters are also pre-activated and ready to use. Many options include a handling sleeve or guide, offering a hands-free option that may help reduce the risk of contamination and infection.
Closed System Catheters for Men
These all-in-one systems are ideal for men who use wheelchairs or are frequently on the go. The sterile catheter is pre-lubricated inside a self-contained collection bag, eliminating the need for additional lubricant.
Some closed system catheter kits will include male catheter insertion supplies like gloves, an underpad, and antiseptic wipes.

The BD TOUCHLESS™ Plus Coudé Closed System Catheter Kit is a touch-free catheter system designed to help reduce the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs). This closed system catheter allows for a touchless insertion and offers a pre-lubricated catheter with a patented finger guide to increase control and convenience. This easy-to-use closed system catheter includes a pre-lubricated vinyl coudé catheter, a catheter cap with a pull ring, and a large 1100cc collection chamber with a built-in drainage port. The insertion supply kit has an underpad, three povidone-iodine (PVI) swabs, and two latex-free gloves.
